Low Surface Energy (LSE) Tapes

New and innovative Low Surface Energy (LSE) materials requiring reliable, high performance, engineered specialty adhesive tape systems continue to emerge as manufacturing in North American markets surges. From specially-formulated plastics to car finishes and building exteriors, this need for durable, all-weather surfaces that repel dirt, dust, soot, oils and the like require unique pressure-sensitive adhesives that will bond to them.

In response to this demand, Adchem has engineered a new family of LSE acrylic tapes in addition to its more than 80 automotive tape products and several LSE systems. The 650 Series of products are being approved and specified in the automotive, electronics, foam bonding for sound and vibration damping, and transportation markets. Designed for high performance, durable-bonding LSE applications, the family consists of several constructions including double-sided PET, double-coated tissue, and an array of unsupported transfer tape products in various thicknesses.

Adchem has conducted extensive bonding studies using the 650 family of products demonstrating exceptional bond to a wide variety of open and closed-cell foams and low surface energy substrates such as TPO’s, polypropylene, polyethylene, as well as powder-coated paint surfaces. The studies are available at www.adchem.com and include automotive grade LSE materials.
